1: 1.3351 steel introduction

6: Heat Treatment
1.3351 is tempered at a temperature selected on the tempering curve according to the desired hardness, at least twice, between which it should be cooled to room temperature, with a minimum tempering temperature of 180°C and a minimum holding time of 2 hours, and quenched at 1,100°C or higher, in order to reduce the amount of residual austenite. 1.3351 is tempered at a temperature of not less than 525°C. It should be tempered at a temperature of not less than 1,000°C. It may not be possible to achieve full hardness by cooling in still air for sizes greater than 3 inches (76.2 mm) in cross-section, and it is usually necessary to increase the quench cooling rate to 1400 to 900°F (760 to 482°C) by using an air blast, pressurized gas, or intermittent oil quenching
For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed, black surface.
